KC: the C’s for the Community

In 2010 we refreshed our brand and changed our name from Kingston Communications to KC. We introduced a new visual identity and a new strapline – proud to be part of local life.

It’s easy to talk about being part of local life, but let’s face it, talk’s cheap, so at the same time we started a programme called KC in the Community, which is all about helping make Hull and East Yorkshire a better place to live, work and visit.

 There are three strands to our programme:

Inspire - We want to inspire young people, get them interested in, and excited about, the future. And encourage them to do the best they can.

Involve - We’re putting local people first and we want to work with them and be at the heart of the community we serve. This isn’t just another company ‘giving back’. We’re from here. We live and work here. And we want our people   to get involved in local activities and projects that makes our region better. 

Invest– We want to stimulate business growth in the Hull and East Yorkshire economy and help create new, sustainable jobs for local people by providing funding and business advice.

Since we launched KC in the Community we’ve helped young people write their CVs. We’ve taught local school children how to use computers. Eight young apprentices have got their first jobs at KC. We’ve helped the Freedom Festival go with a bang and a giggle through sponsorship. We’ve spruced up Bransholme allotments. We’ve helped give children from disadvantaged communities a Christmas party to remember. 36 employees ran the Hull 10K, raising over £5,800 for two local charities. 

We didn’t do all this by ourselves, we worked with local volunteers, charities, community groups, schools, sports clubs and other businesses to achieve all of this and much more.
