KC has recently been awarded the British Standard accreditation BS OHSAS 18001 for its health and safety management system, which ensures health and safety are fully integrated into the company’s overall operations.
The standard was achieved after two and half years’ of work by KC’s Health and Safety team in conjunction with other teams at KC, including its engineering and estates teams.
The health and safety management system allows KC to understand and provide a framework to manage health and safety effectively, including identifying hazards and ensuring compliance with legislation.
Phil Slingsby, KC’s Health, Safety and Environmental Manager, said: “This accreditation is great news for KC.
“Apart from knowing that we’re managing health and safety in line with recognised standards, a further benefit is that this standard is not widely held by other companies within the communications sector.
“As business customers understand the importance of using suppliers who manage health and safety properly when working on their premises or on their behalf, we believe it will be an asset to us when we’re looking to win new contracts.”
Gordon Cockill, KC’s Engineering Manager, said: “The health and safety of our employees is extremely important to us and a particular concern in relation to our engineers, who work in potentially hazardous conditions.
“However, it’s equally important that we have robust health and safety systems in place to protect members of the public, who should feel reassured that we’ve achieved this standard as it means we take this issue seriously”.
"I am a great admirer of KC and the service they provide. Keep up the good work."
