Local communications provider KC has marked the milestone of gaining its 2000th fan on the Karoo Facebook page by giving away a year’s free broadband to a lucky customer.

Angela Oliver was selected at random to win the prize from among the 2000 fans the site has gained since it was launched in July 2009.

The page hosts regular competitions where fans can win cinema, sports and local events tickets, while the fireworks finale at this year’s Freedom festival was also launched by a Karoo Facebook competition winner. Other features on the site include internet polls and local entertainment and events news .

Nick Thompson, KC’s Director of Consumer Services, said: “Facebook’s one of the ways in which we proactively stay in touch with customers – we use it to let people know our news and what we’re up to in the community, so we’re really pleased to reach this milestone.

“Our fans have increased steadily over time and one of the great things about the page is that we have lots of active users who regularly visit and post comments. We’d love to see even more Karoo customers signing up as fans in future.”

Prize winner Angela has been a Karoo customer for more than 10 years. A self-confessed Facebook addict, she became a fan of the Karoo page last August.
